On the Drowning Way.
As a fortress city, the walls of Thorn are perhaps it’s defining feature. They represent the history of the city, each wall being an expansion of the original encampment.Over time these walls have also become boundary markers of the different suburbs of the city, and these suburbs are indeed known by their wall names; Nightwall, Riverwall, Whitewall, Seawall, Skywall, Steelwall. Although different architecture and material, each wall reflects some similarities. Each is built with defense in mind, hence they are tall, thick and have various fortifications built inside them. Each have many spells and magical defenses woven into their structure, so carved runes and charms are weathered across every rock face. And finally each of them, on the inward face, are dotted with small alcoves that act as shrines for the various gods and spirits, both known and unknown. These shrines contain carved or pictorial representations of the gods and votive offerings.
